About the Author

Denys Cazet is the author and illustrator of more than 25 picture books for children, including Never Spit On Your Shoes, winner of the California Young Readers Medal. The books about Minnie and Moo are his first for beginning readers. He was inspired to tell stories about the silly cow best-friends when he passed a herd of cows in which all but two were facing the same way. The other two stood next to each other, facing in the opposite direction from the rest of the cows. He immediately dubbed the two nonconformists Minnie and Moo and imagined the adventures two cows who were loyal friends rather than followers of the herd. Mr. Cazet is currently writing I Can Read Books featuring Elvis the Rooster from the farm on which Minnie and Moo live. Mr. Cazet was an elementary school teacher for 25 years, and has also been a school librarian and elementary school media specialist. He remains active in his local elementary school parent and advisory committees. A California native, Mr. Cazet lives with his family in the foothills of the Napa Valley.

I don't know where this book came from, but I found it on my book shelf last week. It's one of the "I CAN READ!" series, and it's hilarious no matter one's age. I am an octogenarian and I couldn't wait to share it with my friend who is older than I. While not quite so side-splitting as THE WONKY DONKEY, I wouldn't hesitate to share it with kindergarten children as a read aloud. Yet the plot is complex enough to engage confident early readers. I love the illustrations and the story plot. I read this to my 4 year old granddaughter and she loves it. I look forward to reading this to my one year old granddaughter in the future. I will definitely be finding more adventures of Minnie & Moo to put in our library. Both Minnie & Moo have very different personalities. This is a well written book and I would recommend it to anyone with small children.

Like these I can read books. Perfect for the age groups. Nice stories and plenty of detail.

This little book is changing my life (and my level of fitness and body shape!) day by day. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I am a 61 y.o. woman, and through a good deal of my adult life has participated in some form of exercise; walking and strength training. After being diagnosed with cancer 6 years ago, my exercise program fell by the wayside. Mostly because although I felt pretty decent, I just felt like enough was on my plate and adding exercise wasn't a priority at the time. Anyway...I'm still here! About 2 years ago, we moved to a coastal area so I started walking again, and this year I started using weights again. It got so boring, lol. I saw an interview with Helen Mirren who said this program was what she'd used off and on through her life to maintain fitness. I picked it up at the beginning of June, and there's no backsliding from now on.It gives an extremely well rounded set of daily exercises, and I am getting firmer and more energetic. Also, since some of it is done on the floor, I can see my ability to quickly get up increasing, which is so important for the 50+ crowd! It only takes 12 or so minutes, and you are finished. I very much believe that this program is a terrific method for getting fit and maintaining it. Don't hesitate to try it.

I first had a Penguin version of this book in England in the 50's and used it continuously for 20 years, until I lost my battered copy. It changed my life -- I would now be designated 'elderly' but people think I'm thirty years younger, and I credit this to the exercises that I started at age 15! It is such a great thrill to find this book, so that I can now pick up where I left off. These exercises are graduated so that anyone can do them, at any level or age, and they really, really work. Thank you, Dr. Cooper!

I like the fact that it is progressive. Start at the beginning and work up slowly. They are easy enough exercises to do. The one thing I didn't like was the fact that at my advanced age, the running in place was not a good thing for my knees. I will have to think of something to replace that part.I had this book and used it 45 years ago. They have modified this newer edition for women, which is a good thing.This is just a simple, all-around decent, short exercise program for just about anyone.

These are the best exercises ever. I used them in the 70s from an artical in a women's magazine and they were easy at the beginning and then you were to increase repetitions over time. I was never in such good shape. Why I stopped I'll never understand. I read a recent article that Helen Mirren uses these consistently and has all these years since the 70s. She looks amazing, and that inspired me to search out this copy and I'm so glad I did.

The very very best exercise routine. I have been doing it all my life, on and off, for more than 50 years. It sometimes takes me 5 minutes to complete if I have been doing them consistently on a daily basis. Lately, I can do them for 2 weeks and stop and be conditioned for a month. I'm 73 now and I have always hated exercising. It is a miraculous treatment for pains and stiffness now. If I did them consistently, I would be in perfect condition.

My mother and my grandmother both swear by this book. My grandma used it back in the 70s to get in shape and my mom told me she never looked better. Let's hope I can have the same results! The book is perfect quality.

The program is graduated for different age groups. Whatever your age, you can start as simply as you want, with a minimum of low impact exercises. If you want a more extensive exercise, there are different levels to move up to. The idea is to get you up and moving! What makes any such program effective is that you do stick to a regular schedule of doing the exercises. For women, the whole basic set of exercises can be finished in 12 minutes. For men, the program should take 11 minutes. Be sure to read the introduction about cautions about overdoing it. I have followed the program (admittedly, on and off), and been pleased with it.

In college during the 60's, I injured my ankle and had to follow the Royal Canadian Air Force Exercise Plan for PE, since tennis was out of the question. I was in amazing shape within a few weeks - over the years, I would get it out and do exercises from the booklet now and then. During a move, I lost my copy and was delighted to find a used one on Amazon, since the book is apparently out of print. My physical therapist approved of the exercises and I am now in the process of getting my knee stronger before surgery. I am no fan of serious exercise, but this book really is worth the time and effort!

I extensively used the Insight Guides "Scandinavia" guidebook while preparing for a recent trip to Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, and was extremely pleased with the content and illustrations. One thing that sets this series apart from most other guidebooks are the excellent numerous color illustrations. The photography is superior, and the maps are useful for planning and general orientation. The text is similarly excellent, and helped a great deal in planning the trip, especially for the Copenhagen and Bergen portions of the itinerary. There is excellent general information in the back of the book on accommodations, weather (a big factor in a Scandinavian trip), culture, transportation and a bevy of other issues of keen interest to any traveler. Although I did take the book on the trip, I actually found it more useful in the planning stages of the trip as it is relatively large and heavy. I defaulted to a small pocket guidebook and locally obtained maps when out and about.I recommend this book without hesitation: it is comprehensive, detailed, accurate (in my personal experience), and enjoyable to read.

I always use Insight Guides to research before I travel to new lands. It is the best guide I've found with great photos, practical info and just enough background to interest without overkill.

I'm reminded that back in the day people relied on these sort of 'folding' (yet they never really fold back to original form) map to navigate a city. Swing by a gas station, pay a buck and voila! Rand McNally has been doing this for years. However, opening up one of these suckers while actually in a vehicle, especially without a passenger's aid has GOT to be right up there with drunk driving in terms of danger. Thank heaven for audible GPS.However, I am planning a move to PGH. I purchased this to hang on the wall to familiarize myself with the layout of the town. Unfortunately, I don't find it helpful. The color scheme, font, and general muted print color is not easy on the eyes. And mind you, this is while the map is completely stationary. I realize the task of determining what details to include on a general roadmap must be a difficult challenge--leave important info out and people gripe it's not detailed enough. Include too much and it becomes an impossible-to-read cluttered mess. Somehow this map manages to fail me on all levels. PGH is made up of dozens upon dozens of neighborhoods, some only a few blocks long, so I didn't have unrealistic expectations that this particular style of map would include them. However, just trying to find, for example, the popular area known as Oakland (near the college and hospital) took me forever....hunting and pecking around microscopic print, not aided by intelligent shading, was a study in frustration. If you can't even make out road names, why include them at all?As common in this style of map, one side is a layout of the region, complete with a few exurbian areas; the general area of 'downtown' is on the opposite side, blown up. However, the readability and practical details of the magnified PGH proper is still frustrating, only taking up a fraction of the entire unfolded page. Rand McNally must know there's little demand in this day and age for tangible maps and decided they didn't really need to put any effort into their design. My husband has perfect 20/20 vision and still has to squint to make out some detail. Again, my biggest gripe is the pastels used that mutes the ability to read it comfortably unless using the brightest light. I know it's cheaper to purchase this map than a fast food burger, but I'd gladly pay a bit more to actually learn about city streets rather than invest in a magnifying glass. I bought a better book-style map of the city and guess will just Xerox certain pages to fashion my own layout as keeping this pinned up on my wall has not helped me even in the vaguest way. And not in a million years can I imagine using this map to genuinely navigate 'live' through PGH. Avoid.

With colleagues I have taught the first term of a huge (800-student) freshman college world-civ class each year for the last twenty years or so. We have always assigned a reference atlas, and although we have tried various ones, this is the book we keep coming back to. It is cheap, indexed, up to date (revised pretty much constantly, although without always changing the ISBN), and sufficiently detailed to be consistently handy. One can always wish for more --it'd be nice if it showed Indian states and made Chinese provinces clearer, for example-- but in these days when it is easy to get additional detail as needed from the Internet, a small, easily grabbed first reference is more important. When we have tried smaller atlases the detail was inadequate. Larger ones seemed wasted because they went beyond most of our needs. This one has always been pretty much "just right."

This map was just what I needed b/c I am thinking to relocate to the Atlanta area and I wanted to map out certain points of interest and good schools and where the companies are that I will be applying to for a job. This helps to narrow down my search.

I got my grandmother a copy of this atlas a few years ago and she loved using it for finding answers to crossword clues. The atlas is smaller than most in dimensions, and the weight is easy for her arthritic fingers to handle. You won't find the level of detail that you would in a larger atlas, but is more than adequate for locating all major cities, rivers, etc. across the world. Unfortunately, she used it constantly and it was in tatters after only a few years, so I found her another one used on Amazon. She said it was indistinguishable from her original copy and in brand new shape. So if you have trouble finding a new one, try for a used one here.

This map was a gift to my daughter who lives in Atlanta and she said that she loves it. It gives her perspective beyond the GPS that she needs to navigate through the area. That's good enough for me!

As a real-estate investor, I needed a birds-eye view of the city. I hung this map on the wall and it's been wonderful for getting to know the neighborhoods and their proximity to major roads.

This map was disappointing. We were interested primarily in the East side of Orlando, including the Univesity of Central Florida, Waterford Lakes and surrounding neighborhoods. Although these areas have been developed for at least 15 or more years and are a continuous part of the Orlando Metro area, this map does not include them, cutting off at about Alafaya Trail. I do not recommend this unless you are only interested in downtown and the theme park area.

The price was right, and the book was in good condition. The maps were still a little small for my needs.

A delicious biography of Warren Buffett who not only refused to assist Lowenstein in its creation but signed the author's published copy with a forced reluctance. That image will stay with me. A laudable effort and greatly entertaining read. The last chapter didn't add much overall, but the "Afterword" dated January 2008 was revealing (the book was originally published in 1995). Berkshire-Hathaway was trading at $20,400 a share at the end of 1994 but closed today, May 2018, at $292,000! Buffett's annual letters to shareholders can be read at berkshirehathaway.com.

I just finished reading this book. I have read several other Warren Buffett books but this was one of the best ones. I would strongly encourage anyone that wants to know about Warren Buffett to read this book. It goes in depth with his thoughts on various deals and how they turned out. The only thing I did not like his how long was spent on the Salomon Brothers deal. Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

This insightful journey into the life of legendary investor, Warren Buffett reveals a lot why he is truly great. I'm no longer surprised why he is a legend; the results couldn't have been by a stroke of luck consistently over time. He couldn't have been less great. The man is truly a great investor and I am of the opinion that his principles and methodology of picking winning stocks and investments are almost certain to guarantee long-term investment results above the average. Roger Lowenstein has once again exhibited his rare skills as one of the best business authors of modern times. I read one of his previous books some years ago, "When Genius Failed" and was transfixed page by page throughout the pages of that book, hence, of all the biographies written about Warren Buffett, I chose to read his first. Good job, Roger. Keep it up!

I really enjoyed the book because it lays out Buffett's motivations and theories really well, and helps to make sense of some of Buffett's comments and actions over the years. For instance, I had wondered why I hadn't heard of him donating more to Columbia University's business school over the years, and the answer is that he has been frustrated by the academics' embracing the EMH, and not giving sufficient credit to the idea that investors can outperform the market over time purchasing undervalued companies the way he has. It also has the story of his father in politics, and I think explains some of his more liberal leanings as he grew older.Overall, a compelling story that is focused not just on his investment returns and theories, but also on Warren Buffett as a person.

A must read for Buffett fans. Lowenstein has an easy writing style and walks you through all the major events in Warren's life, mostly professional but some significant personal events as well, from childhood through the mid-90's. Lowenstein also takes the time to point-out where and how Warren has learned from and added to the tenants of value investing established by his mentor Benjamin Graham.

The gain in net of Berkshire Hathaway, the company led by Warren Buffet, worth during 2006 was $16.9 billion, which increased the per-share value of 18.4%. Over the last 42 years value has grown from $19 to $70,281, a rate of 21.4% compounded annually. Consider that $16.9 billion is a record for a one-year gain in net worth - more than has ever been booked by any American business, leaving aside boosts that have occurred because of mergers. Of course, Berkshire did not outperform S&P500 constantly. In 1967, 1975, 1980, 1999, 2003, 2004 the S&P gave better performance, and in 2001 Berkshire even was at a loss of 6.2%.This book, "Buffett: The making of an American capitalist" covers very deeply the values that led Warren Buffet during his life from his early childhood. The book is not only a biography per se, but a good manual on investing, that uncovers most aspects, with the detailed explanations and samples, of investing.This book also covers very well personal traits of Warren Buffett, his attitudes toward parents, sister, friends, parents, children and wife. For example, Warren bought a farm and rented it to his son Howie on standard commercial terms. The farm was a joyful refuge to Howie, but he couldn't get Warren to share the experience with him. "I can't get him to come out and see how the crops are going", Howie said plaintively. Warren went only twice in six years. He would laugh off Howies's invitations, saying, "Send me a rent check, and make sure it's big enough". Though he had been thoughtful enough to buy the farm, he couldn't give Howie the fatherly recognition that he craved in other than financial terms.In his investment strategy, Warren uses the concept that he calls "Intrinsic value" of a company. According to Warren Buffet, intrinsic value is an all-important concept that offers the only logical approach to evaluating the relative attractiveness of investments and businesses. Intrinsic value can be defined simply: It is the discounted value of the cash that can be taken out of a business during its remaining life.Here is what Kenneth L. Fisher wrote about Buffet's investment strategy: a quality standing out about Mr. Buffett is his ability to morph. If you read his materials from the 1960s, he said very different things than in the 1970s and early-1980s. Early on he was buying dirt-cheap stocks by simple statistical standards and typically smaller stocks--which would today be referred to as smallcap value (although that term didn't exist until the late 1980s). Later he bought what he called "franchises." Then he entered a period of buying great managements of big companies and being a long-term holder--otherwise thought of as big-cap growth today--that many ascribed to the influence of my father coupled with Charlie Munger. When Mr. Buffett was buying Coke and Gillette, you couldn't quite reconcile those activities with the kinds of things he owned two decades earlier. Then, amazingly, seven years ago, at just the right time, he was buying smaller things dirt cheap again just as value came back into play as the twenty-first century began. I have other comments about Mr. Buffett throughout this book but I'd like you to see, while he never lost the core of what he was doing or what he was looking for, he tactically morphed steadily over the decades. Trying to freeze his tactics from any decade and replicate them in the next few would never have led you to his actual actions.In addition to this book, I also recommend the letters to shareholders written by Warren Buffet, which can be taken from the website of Berkshire Hathaway. If you take an audio record of this title, it will not be as good as the textbook. The audio is more biographical and pays less attention to the investment education of the listener.

I wanted to learn about FTA and evaluate then the possibilities / advantages to start in that line. As an ignorant of this subject I was looking for a book that could explain in plain English what is all about FTA. This book fulfilled my expectations and convinced me to join into this hobbie.Thank you Dennis!

Only a few chapters directly addressed FTA Satellite Operation. The rest of the book talked about surface TV, and Wifi which is well covered in the popular literature. The title is a misleading in that FTA was not covered in most of the book.

There was a lot of introductory tech material on tools, cables, tv's etc. but only two chapters on what I bought the book for. I skimmed all but the receiver discussion and still felt lost shopping for one. I put up my own BUD and did analog C-band in the 90's but it is all quite different now.

This book has more than just satellite info, it talks about all FTA possibilities. I just wish they did more diagrams when talking about theory.

The book is well written. I was hoping for info as to satelite TV equipment vendors but did not find much in the book. To bad the authors web site is not operating.

Disappointing I was looking for a way to get the cable type channels individually
