It was very easy to readThe stories were very believable.The characters came to life very easily.Good read.

Unfortunately, the author needs to edit these short stories. If she is a teenager and these stories are the first stories she has ever written, then she did a pretty good job. As a teen, she is still learning writing skills and English grammar.It is also possible that English is not her first language, and if so, I understand her difficulties with writing in English.However, if she is an adult and English is her first language, she might want to get an English grammar book and a book about creative writing. The stories were sweet, but not very well written. The author continuously used words incorrectly, and I had to go back and reread to figure out the meaning of the passages. One that comes to mind is where she used the word private when she should have used the word privacy. There are too many mistakes that are not typos. There were also missing words so a good editor should have found all of these problems.The author said she was born in Scotland, but she seems to have little knowledge of Scotland's history. A little research while writing would solve that problem, so that is something easy for the author to fix.In no way am I trying to hurt the author's feelings. She should continue to write and learn as she goes. However, if no one tells her about the problems, she will not understand what the problems are.I have no way of knowing when these short stories were written, but I hope the author has continued to learn the creative writing process. Writing is not as easy as people think, so I congratulate the author on the attempt.

All the stories were the same after awhile, even using the same names...read much better Highlands from other authors. Don’t bother.

This is a nice collection of short stories, although I have read a couple of them in another of her collections. Each story was complete in itself with romance, suspense, intrigue, adventure and happy endings! Enjoy!

Love that I could just keep reading.

A wonderful and very insightful series of those ancient times. I enjoyed each book in the series and am looking fed to more of the same.

If only for the discussion of how to season the cast iron skillet, this is a welcome volume. Based on another publication, I have been wasting time coating a 12 inch cast iron skillet (35 years old) after cleaning it after each use and rubbing oil in it and then putting it in the oven for 2 hours at 325 degrees. Ugh! It works, but. . . . This volume provides a much simpler approach--and one that works.So, simply providing background on how to treat one of these treasures is a real contribution of this volume.But this provides more. Some like Cook's Country, others don't. I like their approach. The book goes on to speak of how to use one of these cast iron skillets. The volume also produces a set of recipes.All in all, a fine work. . . .

Love this book - and the skillet. Have to cut back on the ingredients by about a third because I have a 10" not a 12 " that all of the recipes are in.

After reviewing several cast iron cookbooks from the library, i knew this one was the right one to purchase for a person new to using cast iron. Bought one for each of my children to help them learn about cast iron care and cooking with their heirloom skillets. Very pleased with the beautiful color photos for each and every recipe, as well as the detailed instructions. I believe this cookbook will inspire them to use and enjoy their cast iron skillets for years to come!

I love this cookbook! I've tried the whole roasted chicken on the cover (delicious) I've also made the chicken thighs, salmon with honey lime sauce (yummy) and have all of the ingredients ready for the one pan lasagna dish for tomorrow's dinner. The apple pie looks good as well as tons of other recipes that I will be making . Honestly, there are only two or three recipes in this book that I probably won't make, and a few others that I will likely substitute a main ingredient, like beef or turkey for the lamb. I wish that it were spiral bound, but then I wish that ALL cookbooks were spiral bound :) I am so pleased with my gift.

I made all kinds of skillet meals from this book. The best part I think, is that the book boosts creativity, that is, you can take an idea and then branch off of it with something of your own creation. This book gives the normal every-day "household" chef a broader horizon on meals to cook as well as ways to cook those meals.Everything is beautifully categorized and laid out. The beginning of the book is care and use of your skillet as well as recommendations of types of skillets you can find in stores. There is tested reviews of the skillets so you can find out just exactly how those skillets held up to certain conditions. There is a small "yes", "no" questionnaire in the book that helps you self-determine the best use of your skills with your skillet and how you prefer to do business in the kitchen.Meals are plentiful and can all be made with only the skillet.Great book, definitely would recommend to anyone, beginner or professional.

I have tried soo many recipes in this book and let me tell you, if you are cooking for two, and want just a little leftover, this is it. I cooked the chili, the steak tips and mushrooms, the whole chicken as seen on the cover and the cornbread with slight modifications).. look forward to trying all recipes.

This is the 4th cookbook I have ordered and used. Too often, I have bought cookbooks only to try/use a few recipes. I have used several recipes with great results. Must follow the instruction for their recipes; these are tested and re-worked to give the best results.

This is an amazing cookbook! I've been working my way through it and use it two to three times a week. There are pictures for every recipe and I've honestly liked, if not loved, everything out of here. I've also liked that the recipes use "real" ingredients that I have around, not just expensive or weird ingredients like other cookbooks call for. I've already bought a few of these as gifts for others!

I love this cookbook! I cook in cast iron a lot, and have a nice collection of cast iron pans. This book helped me better understand how to use and maintain these pans and also has great recipes. I have tried 5 recipes so far, and all turned out great. I originally checked this book out from the library but liked it so much I purchased it. Can't wait to try more recipes!

She’s the youngest and for centuries has been known as the “party princess” but has redeemed herself lately when she became a scientist with the sole purpose of finding dormant immortals and save her race by providing them with mates. When she’s abducted by a member of her clan’s mortal enemy, the doomers, she’s afraid of death or worse. But that’s not what her captor has in mind at all.Dalhu has long known the doomers philosophy is wrong and when he sees the photograph of a female immortal of his clan’s enemy he’s smitten. When he sees her in person he knows she’s his destiny. Now only if he can figure a way to keep her.

This series started out with an original, interesting story line, but, I can now usually predict what's going to happen next before it happens. Actually, at this point, I don't really care about what happens next. So why buy any more of these books just to find out what happened at the end of the previous ones? Another $2.99 for the next book which takes less than a day (2 hours) to read and then leaves you hanging? Why not incorporate them all into one satisfying book? Have some respect for your readers. Bye bye to this series, and anything else written by this author.

I have read all of the currently published “Children of the Gods” series. I’m waiting anxiously for the next installment to come out! I have thoroughly enjoyed the series so far! I’m not a fan of romance novels and don’t particularly like racy, sexual exploits, unless they bring something to the storyline. This series has it all, and it didn’t phase me at all negatively - in fact, it all seemed to belong and enhance the story.How the author kept all of the storylines straight, through so many volumes - is nothing short of mind blowing! There are so many characters, each with a fully-formed, and fleshed-out (no pun intended) story of their own.I have recommended this series to all of my friends - which I don’t do very often.I’m not looking forward to the end of the series, but I know it’s inevitable.

I love Amanda. She is smart, outrageous, courageous, and lustful. Reading Dark Stranger I suspected that there was more to Dalhu and I wasn't disappointed. He turns out to be a guy that is worth considering despite his dark past. The new bad guy is a different and interesting kind of antagonist. He appears charming while being unapologetically cruel and sadistic, and unlike Dalhu he is a devoted and loyal Doomer. This fourth part was really fast paced and as expected it was very sensual. I finished it in one marathon sitting and immediately moved on to the next one.

Amanda’s story is different from any other in this series. She is a princess among the others. After all she is An Nani’s youngest daughter and Kian’s baby sister, but she has fallen for an enemy. Dalhu is a torture soul, filled with guilt and regret for not being able to save his mother and sister. He has buried the love and tenderness he learned at their hands during his childhood deep inside himself. Now with Amanda he has a chance to share those beautiful feelings with someone else. Until the next one...

For first time in a few years, I read until book ended on a work night. Amanda's story is good and reminds you that just because people are from certain areas that they are not all the same. If you liked Laurel k Hamilton original Anita blake, in blue moon, you will like this.

There is more than meets the eye to Amanda. On the surface she appears shallow and spoiled but on the inside she hides a deep wound. Her dramatic behavior and outward appearance are the shields she puts up against getting hurt again. If she can't feel, she can't get hurt.Dalhu is in love with the idea of having an immortal woman of his own, not any immortal woman, a beautiful professor. For an uneducated mercenary getting his hands on so one like her is the ultimate catch.

J Albert Mann has done an incredible job portraying the life of Margaret Sanger, humanizing her so that readers understand her drive and motivations. The author is a master of historical fiction, creating a brilliant and sympathetic portrait of a woman who changed our world, and reminding us how precious our reproductive freedoms are. I’ve been recommending this book to everyone, particularly to the high schoolers I teach!

Impeccable research mixed with heartfelt and compelling storytelling. Flawless writing. I read this book first then again with my daughter. We both loved it and have had numerous discussions already about it. Not only an important book but a necessary one. Highly recommend ⭐️

I didn't know much about Margaret Sanger as a young woman. J. Albert Mann has done a wonderful job showing what motivated her to become the woman she did. You can see how the poverty and hardship and inadequate medical treatment compelled Margaret to do more as an adult. Also, the book is surprisingly funny in places. A wonderful book for young people to read and learn about a remarkable woman.

This was such a good read! It’s a historical fiction novel about Maggie Higgins (aka Margaret Sanger, the mother of birth control) from when she was 11-19 years old. I felt like Maggie was my own best friend telling me what life was like before women had birth control. The book is well-researched and the author really captures Margaret Sanger's larger-than-life spirit. Although Maggie’s mother's life was pretty grim, Maggie's humor, spirit, and love for her mother shines throughout the book. It’s clear Maggie will go on to do great things. Very inspiring!

I am a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and the title of this book caught my eye. Although I am a "woman of a certain age", I purchased this book to "get the beginning story of Margaret Sanger's amazing journey". And amazing it was! The author was able to bring Sanger's "early journey" to life in such a realistic and beautiful way. I am recommending this book to friend's with children and friend's without children as well~! I am also purchasing copies to keep in my office to share with clients. I could not put it down!

As a young girl, Margaret Sanger dreamed of a world in which girls were could wear pants. Doesn’t seem like much to ask, but growing up poor in the late 1800s in Corning, New York, meant any dream was a luxury, especially for girls. With beautiful prose and meticulous research, J. Albert Mann brings to life young Margaret in a way that makes us better understand how and why the smart, complicated, driven little girl became the type of woman who could change the world. So many of the opportunities women have today, are a result of the determination and tireless work of Margaret Sanger. Every girl should know about her.

Find this short read helped me understand how males and perhaps females, form their roles in the pecking order from alpha to subordinate. While this was based upon a story of growing up on the mean streets of New York, the experiences I had growing up in the Midwest were familiar on the school bus, the football field, or on the job.

After reading "Whatever It Takes" about the Harlem Children's Zone, I wanted to read more about its founder. This memoir explains how Canada's own experiences growing up poor, on a dangerous street in a NYC ghetto have helped shape his life and his approach to building HCZ. He describes his education - both in school and in the streets, and addresses the escalation of violence in these poverty-stricken communities. Though I think he'd love to get guns off the streets, he seems very realistic about the likelihood of that happening, pointing out that current gun control programs like buybacks won't work. He also describes the unintended consequences of "tough on crime" laws like mandatory sentencing. I was never shy about driving through bad neighborhoods in Chicago, and had my own strategies to deal with threats (stopping at red lights was optional for me, in some circumstances), but I now have a much better understanding of what he's dealing with in trying to lift families out of poverty and get their children safely through college. This book is essential reading for anybody who wants to work in a field addressing these problems, from social workers to educators to politicians, and all would do well to examine carefully what Canada is finding works - and what doesn't.

Much like the book Our America, Fist Stick Knife Gun is a nonfiction story that both teens and adults find captivating. Though this version is a graphic novel, that is an advantage, for teenage reluctant readers in particular will be more apt to read it as a result. I've seen with my own eyes young men read this work and identify with it, and, more importantly, learn from it.Though the artwork is rather straight forward and simple, I can't imagine any other style more befitting. Canada's story is inspiring, brutal, and eye-opening. For some, this book offers a glimpse into a world unknown but no less important. In light of recent headlines about gun control, I have been watching, and reading, articles with a renewed interest in the topic. *Spoiler Alert: The author is for gun control.I disagree on several points with the author politically, but I can not argue with his experience, which I find drives most of the value in this book. It's his story, and told through his eyes, there is a growing problem with inner city violence. The author successfully pulls you into his world and you begin to get a real sense of a little piece of daily life of a young man growing up in a poor neighborhood. The narrative is well written, but don't expect any answers inside these pages. That's not the intent of the book. Instead you can expect to glean an additional perspective in a much larger issue, and on this point, it delivers.

I am required to read this book for an assignment in my university Criminology class. I would have never imagined that I would become so engulfed in the story of a “poor little black boy growing up in the ghetto” but I have. This book tells an amazing story of a true hero and how be beat the odds of poor America and has devoted his life to the same streets he grew up on in efforts to save the future generations. I would recommend this book to anyone.

An eye-opening, but not preachy, book about how things in the American education system could be made better (and in fact has been, by the efforts of dedicated people like Geoffrey Canada). It's not a how-to book, as this is an autobiography combined with advocacy. It's a definite must-read for those who are curious about gun violence (despite your personal views) and those who want to get a glimpse into a life of a child growing up in the American ghetto.
