Loved the way the author speaks from a preteen perspective, the illustrations taking her through the various messages we hear daily and peer pressure and how to come against it in order to be true to who you are.

I think this is a great resource for parents and kids to talk about body image. It has a great message and the questions posed by the mother in the book can help promote discussions between parents and their kids. It seems to be made well, which will last through multiple children and discussions.
I am so excited about a book for children that educates about the harmful messages from the media. I haven't read the whole book yet but will be ordering it for my daughter. Regardless of how we look, or how we perceive ourselves, we need to teach our children that they can feel good about their bodies and themselves because they are much more than their 'appearance.' Confidence doesn't come from the outside, it comes from the inside--loving and accepting ourselves for who we are, and rejecting what the media deems to be 'beautiful.' We are bombarded with messages from ads, TV, social media all telling us that we aren't good enough, and that to be happy with ourselves we need to look a certain way. I am excited that this book will open the door to these important conversations.
This book along with the book for boys is a great way to talk to your children about body image issues, a topic that needs to be addressed but leaves parents wondering where to start. This book will help guide and empower you with the information that you need to have that conversation with your children. In a world that sends negative messages to your children about their bodies, we as parents need to give our children the right messages and this book will help you do that.
This is an excellent resource for parents to use to teach their children, specifically daughters, about body image. It shows how easy it is for girls to give into the peer pressure and how to help combat that. There’s a lot that parents can do to help their children have a better body image and this book helps children to understand how the world and how their friends might try to change them. Parents need to let their kids know that they are beautiful just the way they are. Definitely would recommend!
I thought this was an insightful book about how to teach young girls about body image. But I also felt that it was applicable to girls of all ages because it is an issue that we face every day, the issue of accepting ourselves the way we are and believing that we are beautiful without having to change anything. I especially liked how it gave suggestions of questions and activities that you could do with your daughter/niece/grand-daughter to help them understand how to accept and love who they really are and to not love the idea of what others want them to be.
