The art of Wann is rich and vivid, full of life and personality. The storyline is described as a modern Cinderella story -- the main character is unable to pursue her artistic dreams, and she befriends the handsome prince who can make her dreams come true.The translation into English is awkward every now and then, enough for me to give it 4 instead of 5 stars. The art is always fantastic, and the characters are very human; though Jaye's family isn't developed much beyond stereotypes, Jaye and J. are both complex characters, and I'm eager to see how things turn out with them.I would recommend this to manga and romance enthusiasts, and I'll be buying the rest in the hope that they live up to the promise of this first.

I am a huge fan of this manga/manhwa! I love it and love it and it have re-read it so many times that I finally made a decision to invest in a hard copy. It’s so much more pleasant to read a hard copy. I love it. Very much.

I used to read this series when I was 15 and decided to pick it back up about five years later. Still the cute, sappy romance I remember. Easy read, and good for beginner manga readers.Book came in perfect condition and is good quality.

I'm new to this author's work and I found her artwork to be very beautiful. I love the close ups on the characters in volume one.**Warning: May contain spoilers (though I tried hard not to put them)**100% Perfect Girl is a modern day Cinderella story. Jay is a girl about to go to high school who loves art, yet her mother only cares about Jay's brother, a medical school student who wish is her command. Jay is definately stepped on numerous times in this volume by jealous exes, her mother, and brother, but she's not the weak character one might think she is, which was surprisingly refreshing.Prince J., actually King J., is a young man who rules the country Rionne. He, as well as everyone in his country, is incredibly smart. He, however, has never experienced love and his clumsyness is just too cute. He gets carried away once, and Jay lets him have it, which just makes her more attractive to him. He's used to people treating him in a "royal" way, but Jay treats him like any other guy, even after she finds out who he is.If you loved Cinderella as a kid, or if you just like Shojo manga you should check this story out. I guarantee true lovers of romance will be hooked after the first volume, and volume two is due out in June (only a couple weeks away) so you won't have to wait long for it.Happy Reading!

I love Wann's stories. Sure, they're overly dramatic and laden with pathos. But they're also beautiful and well written. "Can't Lose You" and "The Snow Queen" were both good, solid reads. "100% Perfect Girl" is not. It's sad, because the series starts out so well. The first volume is fabulous, and the second is pretty good. The third and fourth volumes are where things begin to slide downhill and don't stop. I stuck with this series because I loved the beginning, and the art was fabulous. My continued faith and support was rewarded with tired plot devices, bad characters, and a badly done ending.The main characters are great at first. Jay is a beautiful and talented Korean teenager who dreams of being an artist. Jarte is a cool, charismatic and incredibly handsome European prince who is terrified of love, but finds himself falling none the less. The two of them are adorable together, and though the beginning of their love affair is a bit bumpy, you feel like it will all turn out just fine. After volume three, everything changes. The two become sad cliches with no substance. Jay becomes a weak and whining victim of every man she meets. Jarte becomes a psychopath bent on owning Jay at any cost. With the exception of one who is later ruined, the other characters are there for pathos and window dressing. It gets old very quickly. They're two-dimensional fluffers there to show the reader just how desirable Jay is. Every man Jay comes into contact with becomes obsessed with her. Every woman is there to comfort the men after Jay rejects them, or to be compared to Jay and found wanting. I wound up having no sympathy for anyone in the series.The series feels like it's been artificially dragged out past its end. Instead of one kidnapping, we have multiple. Instead of one major injury, we have several. Instead of one major misunderstanding ripping the main characters apart, we have dozens. Instead of one crazy man becoming obsessed with Jay, we have 4. Each of these plot devices would have been fine if used once or twice, but used over and over, they get ridiculous and stale. Wann said that she wanted the series to be 11 volumes long, and that's what she made it. The cost to the story was high, but I'm sure the sale of 11 books made it worth it to her.The absolute worst part is the ending. It's not that its a sad ending, it's just poorly done. The story completely falls flat. Many of the pages in the last chapter are blank. What's shown is nothing we didn't already know. It's tired, and stale. The little side stories are boring and they don't make up for the horrible ending of the main story. It's a bad ending to a bad series.Unless you like empty harem shoujo with ridiculously over-used plot devices, skip this one. The only positive to this series is the art.

This graphic novel went along mostly as a cheesy romance story. Not great, but meh. A prince falls in love at first sight with a girl while he's on a trip. Had a couple of funny moments. However, near the end, he basically rapes her (or at least that's the impression I got...either that or she consented and changed her mind when the sex act was done). Either way, this is not cool at all, especially since there is no doubt whatsoever that this volume is the beginning (of a series spanning at least eleven volumes) of what I am supposed to see as their epic romance. Starting out like this, there is no way I can ever see a romance between these two as anything other than horrifically terrible. This sends a terrible message to readers (which will frequently be teens) about what love is and what it is okay to do in the name of love.

Wann's drawings are stunning, and she weaves a terrifically fun and complicated plot dealing with relationship drama, the inherent issues present between a well-to-do man (a King, really) who sweeps the artsy, small-town girl off her feet, political turmoil, and lots more! Our heroine is certainly 100% beautiful, as are all the men and women in this story, which makes this a title that's pleasing to the heart and to the eye. I'm up through the latest volume, and it just keeps getting better and better! I'm so happy I found this shojo :-)

Great book about a man who camped out in the african wilderness for many months to observe gorillas. This book gives detailed accounts of his sightings and observations. It delves into the foods they eat, their nest-building habits, behavior, and more. It's a little slow at the beginning, but it gets more into gorillas as you continue reading.

Very outdated and drawn out but educational

After reading Schaller's book I can't recommend it highly enough to others, either interested in natural science, gorillas, or just want a great read.

A splendid story from one of our premier wildlife conservationists and activists. Reveals the ordinary lives of extraordinary gorillas and people.

The book was awesome. Very descriptive, explained the landscape, the behavior of gorillas, but also the people involved. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Mr Schaller was a pioneer in the study of the mountain gorillas and this work recounts his studies undertaken in what was later known as Zaire in the early 1960 just prior to independence (and subsequent spiral into civil war and violence which has yet to see an end). His insights into gorilla behavior and his adventures into areas wholly unknown to West at the time are very entertaining. I especially enjoyed the very first chapter which provided a comprehensive overview of the history of the discovery of the gorilla by Westerners.

This is the fascinating story of the author's expedition to study Mountain Gorillas in 1959-60. Told as a detailed narrative, it is as much an adventure story as a scientific analysis.From the riveting first encounter with a family of gorillas through the identification of several distinct groups, their daily routine is revealed. The gentleness that Schaller found dispelled many long held myths about Gorilla behavior.Beyond the gorillas, this is also the complete story of a region, its people and other flora and fauna. The issues of preservation of these animals and their habitat are much the same as those faced today.This is the documentation of an important pioneering work that paved the way for Fossey and other researchers who would follow. Illustrated with photos and maps, it is a compelling read from cover to cover.

For anyone that has more than a passing interest in the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, "Elementary, She Read" is a must read! Gemma Doyle (no relation to Arthur Conan Doyle!) has come to West London (Cape Cod) to manage her Great Uncle Arthur's bookstore - "Sherlock Holmes Bookshop and Emporium". Located at 222 Baker Street, of course! I mean - that was one of the selling points when her Great Uncle bought the shop. Uncle Arthur is a great fan of Sherlock Holmes, and Holmes memorabelia. Gemma has added other Sherlockian items besides the books and magazines because, well, because they sell! A cat lover myself, I adore Moriarty, the resident cat. Moriarty loves everyone except Gemma, and her former boyfriend (and current police detective) Ryan.Gemma finds what appears to be a rare magazine containing an original Sherlock Holmes story - placed in amongst her books and magazines by a very strange looking woman, while the shop is filled with a woman's tour group. Emma and her best friend Jayne (who runs the adjoining Mrs. Hudson's Tea Room) set off to return the magazine to the woman who left it in the shop. They find her ... dead in a local hotel. Jayne calls the police, and when they arrive, Gemma is thunderstruck to see that her ex-boyfriend Ryan has returned from Boston, and is lead detective. He is not too friendly, but the other detective, a female detective, is going to present even more problems!A dead woman, her wayward son, a second dead woman, and a boatload of greedy people move this story forward at a very crisp pace. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I think that you will too!

Gemma co-owns, with her Great Uncle Arthur, two businesses. One being a theme retail store that specializes in all things related to the character, Sherlock Holmes. The other business is the "Mrs. Hudson Tea Shop." These two businesses reside in New London, Mass. You can almost guess the addresses.The mystery begins when a woman blends in with a tour group and leaves or hides a famous, or is it?, Magazine featuring Sherlock and said to have been printed in 1887. The value could be almost half a million dollars but if it's a fake... well, no one is going to know for awhile since the woman that left the book is dead and the magazine is now in police evidence protection.Gemma has an unique ability to pay attention to the smallest details. She puts theories together using this ability. The police are not so charmed by Gemma and since the bodies keep being found by her and best friend, Jayne....well, you can see why they must investigate the murders to save themselves.I found myself liking this book very much. I look forward to reading the next volume in the series.

Except for the denouement, which I skipped. Too many mistakes in details that should have been found. It was raining., it wasn’t type of thing. And I always think the Holmes noticing of details and inferences drawn therefrom are silly. She knew he was divorced because he hesitated before saying the word wife. Could just as easily have been because they weren’t married. The fake tension introduced to shore up the story- two people meet...instant dislike. Silly. But good enough that I read it all the way through. So three stars.

I liked this story. Who I thought murdered two people didn't. When I can't figure out who the murderer is, I consider that a good mystery. Gemma and her good friend and partner, Jayne, stumble onto not one but two dead bodies. The police are very suspicious of them both but especially Gemma. Gamma runs the Sherlock Holmes Bookstore and Emporium, and it's seems everyone is after a valuable magazine that was left in her store by one of the victims. A clever plot.

For a first book in the series it was very intriguing. The concept is very good as are the characters. The storyline is worthy and the murderer isn't as easy to figure as you think.

I bought this book mainly to get a grasp on Einstein's feelings about education. The greatest mind of the modern age, pulling from personal experience as both a teacher and a student, lays down some very good ideas about what education should be about. I was also entertained by Einstein's global perspective, although I believe that the formation of a Utopian society is wishful thinking since there would still need to be a government of flawed human beings that were capable of corruption. Overall it is a great collection of letters and speeches by one of my favorite teachers, with the added bonus of his point of view on many things that plague our generation to this day. It is a very easy book to read and almost impossible to put down. The contents are infinitely better than the pseudo-intellectual bull-stuff that lay between the ears of many educators, scientists, and politicians of these perilous. I recommend this book to teachers, parents, scientists, politicians, and layman. Everyone can enjoy the simplicity of Einstein's arguments and thoughts.

By that I don't mean it in a bad way. His way of looking at life is definitely peculiar. But very interesting. Some of his writings I wasn't particularly interested in but it made for an interesting read when it comes to the rest of the book.I really liked his answer to the question "what is the meaning of life?""To know an answer to this question means to be religious.... The man who regards his own life and that of his fellow creatures as meaningless is not merely unhappy but hardly fit for life."Way to go buddy. I like you.

The ideas and opinions cover a very wide range of topics. Einstein comes across not only as an intellectual but also as a humanist and idealist. He lavishes the highest praises on Newton and Gandhi.

I prefer non-fiction books to fiction and it was eye-opening to read the opinions from one of the greatest minds of the last century on topics that were not related to his area of expertise (theoretical physics, AKA the original Sheldon Cooper). I recommend everyone put this book on their reading bucket list.This is one of those books that took a while to read because every sentence was read multiple times and then pondered over for a few seconds/minutes until moving to the next idea. Einstein had an amazing ability to cut past the BS and apply plain logic to whatever issue he was addressing. He was a genius in all aspects of life and more people should try to achieve the intellectual freedom he had. His writings have definitely re-opened that inquisitive, knowledge-yearning part of my brain that has been dormant for a few years.Some of the sentence structure was hard to read, I found myself reading and re-reading the passages in the first 30 pages until I my brain got used to Einstein's writing rhythm. Its either a language barrier, since English was not Einstein's first language (I think), or his grammar and sentence structure is so perfect that his writing looks weird to a 21st century reader. The YOLO generation might experience a brain bleed from Einsten's esoteric writing.

A delightful look into the mind of one of our times most profound geniuses. Shows a side of Einstein few knew about. A very insightful and compassionate man. The theory and equation explanations are surprisingly easy to follow as well. I definitely recommend this book.

The writings provide an intimate & holistic glimpse at Einstein's thinking process & personal philosophy. What interest me most among these writings are those that reveal Einstein's philosophical perspectives (such as about religion, war & peace); & more interestingly, how these perspectives are rationally formulated & concisely crystalized.

This is excellent and I think it cost very little for the Kindle app. This man had a very beautiful way of expressing himself and a wonderful philosophy. He's very easy to understand. Einstein does not need anyone to explain Einstein. He does that so a child can understand.

This book varies little from the others that Strobel has written with his statement of the obvious "Next I decided I had to visit and interview, none other than the leading expert on..." :) know what I mean?

Lee Strobel's "A Case for Christ" was highly instrumental in leading me to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord & Savior. Coming from a scientific background, I was also skeptical about this whole "religion thing". However, the methodical scientific approach and evidence he discovered in his search for the truth, convinced me it is far more logical to place my faith in Jesus than not. I can do nothing but highly recommend this book and the movie if you are searching for the truth about Jesus Christ.

Lee was an Atheist, and his wife, an Agnostic.What makes this book so interesting, even as a believer, is the fact that Lee, former legal editor for the Chicago Tribune, embarked on a 2 year investigation into the reality of Christ. Was Jesus who He said He was? Did He really exist in the flesh? Are the biblical accounts just made up? Were there eye witness testimonies to miracles that supposedly happened through Jesus? Can groups of people maintain eye witness accounts without those stories becoming totally altered after passing down through even the first 20 people let alone generations?The really great thing about Lee's "investigation" was that he set out to prove that his wife, who became a believer, and all the rest of us, were caught up in a huge scam. Experts in the fields where Lee's questions could be addressed were engaged in this quest. This book is not fiction!Also, the movie, if you see it, does a great job of summarizing the whole investigation, and you get to "meet" those who were called on to fully answer Lee's questions, and they are not actors.

It's hard to rate this book with only 5 stars. I was raised a Mormon. After leaving the cult due to the Mormon inconsistencies and contradictions I found myself in a state of limbo. I didn't know what to believe. I knew that a God existed but wasn't sure if it was the Christian God, the many many Hindu gods or maybe some deity that was unknown and impersonal.The Case for Christ was a critical look at Christianity from the perspective of an atheist. Lee Strobel left no stone unturned. He tackled the historicity of the person Jesus, the resurrection account, miricals and every objection to which I wanted answers.

Well written and logical. A must for anyone investigating the validity of the claims of the Gospel.

I am a christian. My parents were born again long before I was born. My father was immensely and I mean it, immensely transformed after receiving christ. We prayed three times a day, and I was a firm beleiver in Christ simply by reading the bible and listening to men of God. Mama always spoke vividly about the Kingdom yet to come. It is the happiest time of my parents lives, speaking about Christ. I therefore knew christ without reviewing the evidence. Reviewing the evidence in this book has given me a new drive and commitment to the cause and now I am altogether stronger and better grounded. I wish I had read this book years ago! I would definately have had better use of my time witnessing for christ.

To him, the witness of the Spirit to us through an encounter with Christ is the ultimate confirmation of the truths proposed and taught by Christianity.Before this, he spends 14 chapters in the book looking at common objections some people present for why they do not believe that Jesus is truly God as Christians believe. Strobel--who was once himself a nonbeliever/atheist--refutes the objections and is convinced that the objections are baseless. His arguments convinced me, too, but not all of the chapters were as important to me as the others. We all come to acceptance or rejection of Jesus as God from different places, and unless we are set in our thinking against the truth of Christian revelation, it seems to me that at least some of Strobel's reasons should prove to be persuasive. I have known people, however, who are so set in their opposition to accepting the divinity of Christ that I doubt this book (or any others) will make a difference. (I had a friend in college who was so wounded by life while a child that he turned against God in anger and identified as an atheist. He refused to consider any arguments for Christ and the Church and had build up a wealth of reasons why he was correct.)This book should also be helpful to those who already believe in Christ because it presents many arguments and reservations by those opposed to belief in Christ. Knowing the arguments and sensible reasons against them can help Christians understand those opposing Christ and gives believers understanding of how to counter those arguments.I agree with Strobel about the importance of the Spirit revealing the truth to us. While I was somewhat catechized and taught about Christian truths as a child (as much as a post-Vatican II child could be!) and didn't have great objections to belief, my faith was not deep and wasn't really important to me. Confirmation of my belief came to me as I encountered Christ though Scripture, prayer, the Church and sacraments (especially the Eucharist), and the community of believers. My now long pilgrimage in seeking to know Christ and understand him has led to deeper faith and a more joyful experience of it. Over time, indifference and questions I once had melted away. At times the "melting" was quite rapid; at other times, quite slow. But I persevered and my pilgrimage continues and enriches my life more as time passes. And I think that through me, my faith is also enriching the lives of others too. As Sister Pat says, "Thank you, Jesus."

This book is full of ball-breaking exercises that will give you some serious technique. If you're a pro or want to be a pro, mastering these exercises might be essential. If you're not a pro (and I'm not) the book presents some interesting challenges that will enhance your playing but I can't see spending the time and effort to master all of it. For instance I've gone through all the "rudimental ritual" exercises but I'm not going to memorize the whole thing, as the book calls for: it's something like 15 minutes long and I'd rather spend the effort on other aspects of my playing. And the independence/coordination exercises are challenging and rewarding but I don't want to put everything else on hold until I've conquered all of them. I've found the book "The Art of Bebop Drumming" by John Riley to be a bit more user-friendly, but Dawson's uncompromising (and sometimes agonizing) lessons are a great resource--it's just a matter of how much you want to devote yourself to them.

So pleased with this. Had never heard of Alan Dawson until I saw a comment by a guy on YouTube who was chastising people for treating Chapin's Advanced Techniques for Modern Drummer (which I also like) like nothing could ever compete with it. Well, this competes with it. Dawson's Rudimental Ritual alone is worth the price of the book. Makes playing rudiments fun rather than a chore. Definitely a favorite if you care about stepping up your technique and coordination.

Like some of the other reviewers let me say first that the content of the book is excellent. So why only 1 star. The production of the book is terrible. Pages started to fall apart a couple days after I received the book. I still use it to practice, but I am picking up pages off the ground constantly. I mean the whole book is coming unglued. The binding and glue used to produce this book is simply unsatisfactory.

I'm just getting into the four way coordination and it looks challenging. The rudiments section was awesome with some different ideas .So, I'm glad I bought this drum book.

This material is absolutely essential to the serious drummer. I studied with Alan for several years at his basement studio at his home in Lexington. Also there in attendance were the likes of people such as Steve Smith and a very young Terri Lynn Carrington. The list of famous students would be far too long to mention. This was the method he used back then and the information is priceless. Alan was a stern taskmaster and would not allow a student to proceed to the next lesson before he became proficient with the current one. Study this material religiously and attain complete four way coordination,speed,massive chops a musical approach to solo work and all around confidence with the drum set. I owe Alan a debt of gratitude for all he imparted.The kind of dicipline required will also transfer positively to other personal goals and endeavors one may undertake in life. GET THIS BOOK!!! The Drummer's Complete Vocabulary as Taught by Alan Dawson.

As others have stated, the content of the book is great. But the pages fell apart within weeks, which is really annoying.

This book has turned out to be a real unsuspected gem. The Rudiments section in this book is worth the money alone. This book will open your mind and your playing. The exercises are not for the easily frustrated. If you are looking for one book that will get you on the right track to being a very well-rounded drummer, this is it!!!

I am learning a ton from this book and already on lesson 8 of the rudiments...thrilling!!! When you get one down, it is a great sense of accomplishment. This book will give a solid foundation for any style of drums I believe..thanks!.
