Came as expected. It was BRAND NEW with all the extras...pocket cards, stickers, and online study access.

The writing and organization of the newest edition has improved, but it also introduced numerous errors.For example, in the post-resuscitation chapter, a formula given for the 5% systolic blood pressure for age was (age/4) + 4, which I believe is the formula for calculating the correct uncuffed ET tube size in mm. The formula for the systolic blood pressure calculation should be (age x 2) + 70.The alternate formula for calculating maintenance IV fluid rate in the same chapter is also incorrect. It states for children weighing more than 20 kg, the maintenance rate is 40 + weight in kg, but I think it should be 60 + weight in kg.

Part 5 "Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics" was missing from my book and the place it should have been had pages from part 4 "Cardiac Arrest"

I wholeheartedly agree with this book.I am a man. I am also a huge fan of Bruce Bryans’ writing. Since May 2013, I have read nine of his books, (including several written for women). His writing resonates deeply within my soul of not only the kind of man I aim to be, but also the kind of woman my soul desires. I get to experience the great relationship he advocates.My motivation for reading this book was to look for areas in my own my life that may undermine my own efforts to make my own woman’s heart feel safe, secure and drenched with love. I highly recommend this book.With that in mind (and although lengthy), I would like to offer my thoughts about the book. You’ll find I share just about everyone of his insights.INTRODUCTIONI recognize that as a man, I set the tone for the quality of the relationship by the way I carry myself. When I don’t find the right kind of woman, I am tempted to settle for less. I don’t want that either. And although it may feel like we are rare and hard to find, truth is, we are here, and when I meet a woman who poses Poise, Feminine Grace, Self-Respect and Playfulness — I absolutely want to win her for life.Chapter 1: How to Date a Man and get His Love and Respect 1. Standards, hers and mine, communicate that the quality of the relationship matters and makes creating the inseparable emotional bond so much easier.2. As much as I like the idea of winner her easily, neither do I want the relationship to be rushed. When I find a high-quality woman, I love her response not only when I step up to plate but also allowing time to let those feelings simmer as they become the glue for a strong emotional bond.3. The only time I want to be on her Facebook is when she posts the main picture of me holding her, letting the world know that we are each others.4. If I asked her out, I am paying (the masculine need to provide and protect). Allow yourself to relax and enjoy our time together. Nothing makes me happier than seeing her smile.5. She desires freedom to display her emotions as they come to her, and the freedom to express her sexuality in her own unique way with modesty and enthusiasm.9. Unfortunately, in the past, when I was emotionally interested in a woman who I know was not right for me, I also felt like a selfish fraud. I wasn’t authentic and felt more a needy boy than a man. Furthermore, even PUAs (Pick Up Artists), even those who promote being an authentic and being respectful guy, acknowledge that he can get a women to do anything as long as her emotions are triggered and her thinking brain distracted, not exactly authentic or respectful.Chapter 2: Power Dating Strategies for Finding Mr. Right10. Even if there is a handful of women I might be interested in at the time, when I meet this kind of woman that possesses this quality, I immediately become disinterested in the rest and will step up for her.11. Agree. Independence without responsiveness communicate, intentionally or not, that you are not interested. Your responsiveness is the fuel that makes our engines rev.12. Protect your heart for a man who will really treasure it.13. You do this, and you will have both love and respect from a high-quality man. You will make him feel special, and have someone he will never give up.14. Solid advice for men also.15. I could never imagine myself ever asking a woman on a date through a text. If seeing her is hit or miss, then I will call. Ask her out in person — secure enough to be vulnerable for the possibility of rejection.16. Same for a high-quality man who will care enough to be patient. David Richo in Daring to Trust: “Wise adults begin relationships not with the romance phase but an investigation phase. We see if they are trustworthy . . . and possess qualities that are important to us.”17. Dignity and Respect comes from being real, authentic. Women who communicate with respect are respected and make me feel respected. He is absolutely correct about the middle paragraph on page 61. Which one will you be?18. The longer you waste your time on a dead relationship, the later it will be to find a quality man who does have what you’re looking for. Furthermore, hanging on actually makes you look desperate and less attractive.Chapter 3: The Beliefs and Standards of High-Value WomenThis advice is about self-respect which is so fundamental for a healthy, vibrant relationship. It is also the same advice he advocates for men with women.19. Excellent Advice. Although more difficult, done this way, it not only shows respect for the man, but also for your own heart.20. Flakiness is a sign of immaturity and disrespect. Allowing it is a sign of desperation and self-disrespect. Not attractive whether you are a man or woman.21. I can’t comprehend why any man who truly wants to be a high quality woman would not make every effort to be on time. Isn’t his dependability part of the foundation for trust?22. This one came as a surprise but after reflection I realized that when a woman opens up and trusts me with her soft side, I feel trusted which opens the door for me to share my softer side creating moments of emotional connection we both desire.23. Dead-end relationships are already dead even before it officially dies. The more you hang on, the longer it will take for your heart to find what it truly desires.24. Even though men are to be leaders, we will often lead to the level you allow us. Don’t settle for less if your heart actually desires more. You deserve what you want.25. The amount of quality women I began to attract skyrocketed after reading and implementing Bruce Bryans advice for men. It feels great to have options.Chapter 4: How to Capture His Heart and Bring Out His Best26. Not sure I totally agree. However, if you give too much, he will become lazy. I love when a woman indicators of interest are clear. It shows confidence and someone I would enjoy bing around (I personally absolutely love playfulness in a woman). But Bryans is completely correct when he wrote: “In the beginning stages, men are more likely to respond to you on deep, primal level if you are warm, friendly, easy-to-please, kind, deferential to his leadership, and even hesitant to commit.”27. Femininity Wins. It’s the polarity between the masculine and feminine that makes our love stories magical.28. Yes. A high-quality man recognizes the difference between turning down a request from rejecting him. It’s invigorating for us to take initiative and lead, but also hearing “no” also allows us to show the tender side of consideration. And when the “no” becomes a “yes,” the feeling inside is something indescribable. She becomes even more precious to me.29. Absolutely Agree. Now were talking about Magic. May very well be my favorite chapter.Final ThoughtsA high-quality woman is our heart. Although we men may accomplish great things in life, it’s having someone by our side who supports us and shares in our ambitions that makes it so rewarding. Whatever we accomplish, no matter how significant it’s impact on others, it still feels somewhat empty without an invested, high-quality woman by our side.

This book made so much sense and was even better than the last dating book I read which I gave five stars to. The book was written simply without too much fanfare and hype, but it certainly got the message across. I'm changing my way of doing things and it makes me feel good about myself. I also understand the male psyche better now.

If you've read about the difference between writers who create detailed outlines and writers who sit down and write by the seat of the pants AND you find yourself looking for a middle way, take a look at the snowflake method.I found my own work approach gravitates toward this technique. I'm not thoroughly wedded to it, since I tend to be eclectic in most approaches. I borrow what works for me, discard the rest. In this case, what works for me is the idea of frequently revisiting what I've written to make changes. My first draft is really my fourth or fifth revision for some scenes, my third or fourth for others, etc. My own mental demons will not allow me to just write a "vomit draft" or give me permission to just "write crap" with the intention to revise later. On the other hand, I can get a scene reasonably well-written and move along, fully expecting to come back a few times. Maybe more. And then rewrite even more after the first draft of the manuscript is finished.If you are not psychologically compelled to Robert Ludlum-like outlines before you start or to writing entirely by the seat of the pants, then I strongly recommend you take a look at the snowflake method.The only part of the book that got tiresome for me was the allegory throughout of nursery rhyme characters. There will doubtless be readers who think this is witty and enjoyable. Sorry, to me it was a long, self-conscious schtick.

I've used Randy's Snowflake Method before from his website (advancedfictionwriting.com) and while it gave me the best results of any creative paradigm I've tried, the instruction left me feeling a little glassy-eyed.This book is amazing. It is a hidden gem and I hope this review helps others give it a chance.There are three layers to this book - the first layer is that you get to read a novel about a girl who learns how to use the Snowflake method on her own story. You learn right along side Goldilocks without realizing you're learning. The examples she reviews with Baby Bear are just as good as if you went to a conference on your own.The second layer is seeing the application of the lessons. You realize through the story (for me it was about halfway through) that you are actually seeing a plot line unfold that has nothing to do with the World War II story Goldilocks is writing. You might even realize this is the real example Randy was trying to give, not the WWII romance.The third is the actual instruction - and let me say, this instruction was so much clearer than what was on the website. Maybe it's because of the first two layers... but I really feel like I learned so much more from this book than others.Writing books talk about writing like it's the driest thing in the world. Randy's book talks about writing and shows us, three times, that his method works.I don't know what type of writer you are. Maybe the Snowflake method doesn't work for you. But if you've ever read up on it and it sounded interesting, give this book a shot! It is well worth it.

If you have tried the outlining method and it didn't work for you and you tried the seat of the pants method, then this book is definitely for you.The book starts out as a story while teaching you the 10 steps to the Snowflake method. So you not only have an entertaining way to learn, but you also get solid examples.I love the new step 9(it differs from his website).This book takes the information learned from his website and demonstrates it using the story presented in the beginning of the book. I learned that I didn't fully understand the way it was supposed to work. I also found that I seemed to have been doing it right...I just haven't finished yet.I found that the main character had the same fears and doubts that I did. Exactly. It was as if Dr. Ingermanson could read my thoughts as I read.I found it extremely hard to put down. I just purchased this the day before yesterday and i finished it this morning.Great job!!!Update:After reading this book, I did all ten steps and in just two months and seven days after started my first draft, I finished it. It was 232 double-spaced using 12 Courier New Font. I am currently planning the next one...

This is a very good book on writing fiction. They say there are two kinds of writers: outliners and "pantsers" - people who write by the seat of their pants, without an outline. As a writer, I'm a pantser all the way. There's just this little problem. About half way through writing a novel, about 50,000 words in, I find myself stuck. I don't let this worry me anymore. I know it's going to happen and I know I'll work through it.The "Snowflake Method" is a way to write a novel as more of an outliner. It goes into helpful detail about developing characters, setting, dialog and plot. It gives you an outline/overview of what you need to figure out before (or in the middle) of a book. What I like about it is I can use as much of it as is helpful, and leave the rest alone. If you struggle to come up with enough ideas and details to write a whole book, The Snowflake Method just might be the answer to completing it.

I found "The Liberator" by Alex Kershaw to be a unique and excellent vehicle to learn about World War II. Kershaw follows one soldier, Felix Sparks from landing on Sicily, fighting through Sicily, then up the 'boot' of Italy, another landing in southern France, north through eastern France, crossing the Rhine River into Germany, fighting through Germany to Bavaria, and, most significantly, liberating the Dachau Concentration Camp. The most amazing fact to me is that Felix Sparks actually survived this ordeal. His unit took some of the worst casualties of any American army unit in the European Theater.The book details the horrors infantry troops endured in Europe and the amazing courage it took just to pick up the weapon each day and continue the fight. PTSD (post traumatic stress disease , known by various other terms (shell shock, etc.) in those days), took a tremendous tole. Despite it all, Sparks continued to show leadership and good judgment. He first landed in Sicily as a Lieutenant and company commander. At the end, he was a Lt. Colonel and Battalion commander. His men loved and trusted him and he returned the feelings. The section of the book dealing with the liberation of Dachau was particularly riveting and wrenching.I recommend this book.

The US Army traditionally has been an organization that celebrates elites: Rangers, Special Forces, Delta Force, and Airborne Infantry. But, in the end, it is the straight leg, uncelebrated infantry units who do the heavy lifting of battle. The 45th Infantry Division was one of those organizations in WWII. In over 500 days of combat it suffered unimaginable casualties, fighting its way across Sicily, up the leg of Italy, into France and Germany. It went across the beach in four D-Days, but received little credit or praise. Col. Felix Sparks demonstrated unparalleled courage and leadership in guiding and encouraging his men through the terrors of mine fields, artillery barrages, machine gun fire, and extreme weather conditions of heat, cold and rain. This book is very well written, but equally hard to read because of the description of terror and carnage inflected on these young Americans by a determined, fanatical enemy. Mr. Kershaw has done another tremendous job in writing this book. I recommend it to all.

If you have only one book to read about the soldiers in WWII, this is it. I have read many books about the Second World War, but this one captures the essence, the sacrifice, the heroism, the pain and,yes, the horror of war better than most. What sets this book apart is following the life of a true hero, Felix Sparks, from second lieutenant to brigadier general, through innumerable battles, wins and losses and gives a “you are there” quality of life during war. Written with care and thoughtfulness, this book is not to be missed.

Felix Sparks another unsung hero from WW2. He helped with the invasion of Italy and fought all the way into Germany. Along the way he liberated the Dachau concentration Camp. Here some of his men slaughtered the brutal SS that they captured. The aftermath had a full investigation into the conduct of those killing the SS. It eventually was squashed by Patton himself.The writer pulls no punches. He lets the reader know when a General messed up and how it affected the outcome of the battle. Felix Sparks is a true American Hero. Once you start reading it will be hard to put the book down.

I enjoyed the book as it followed the route my uncle took while in WWII. His division was alongside the author’s. I purchased it for my Dad and he enjoyed it as much as I since it was his brother. He, in turn, purchased it for my uncles’s son. Hearing how rough their lives were for several years was heartbreaking. It was awful for them to have to go through. It should make us appreciate our soldiers even more. They are true heroes.

This fast paced, well researched, and extremely well written WWII saga is of the extraordinary experience of Felix L. Sparks, who rose from no rank dog face to command a regiment in the 45th division, from bloody Anzio to the hell of Dachau. It's amazing that one man saw and endured as much as he did and survived. Sparks was a great man.

The 45th Infantry Division is hardly etched on the public’s consciousness, yet it should be. A National Guard division - America was woefully unprepared for another world war and thus had few regular divisions - the 45th has a WWII combat record that very few divisions can equal and none envy. Thrown repeatedly into the hottest part of battles, the 45th somehow avoided breaking even when entire companies and even a battalion were wiped out almost to a man, yet events conspired to keep their tales mostly from the front page.Colonel Sparks, the subject of this book, is perhaps the best example the author could have selected as a focus. He is both typical of the breed and exceptional within it, and having survived the war, could give additional information after it ended. Sparks is the best possible representative of the American soldier and the larger American war machine, both tough as nails and filled with humanity. His story is amazing.The author’s recreation of Sparks’ part of war is both dryly factual and colorful. He aptly avoids war porn while also not whitewashing the horrors. Those of us blessed with never facing such duty cannot really understand it, but books like this can help us understand to the degree possible, and to deeply appreciate the ordinary men and women who do such extraordinary things in defense of freedom and liberty. Highly recommended. Instead of books about understanding Islam, American university students should all be reading this book, that we may understand ourselves as a nation and grasp both the value of liberty and its terrible price. Highly, highly recommended.

I live in South Carolina, where Nikki Haley is governor. I was not a resident when she ran for office, so I missed her campaign and its finer points. I do know that since I've lived here I've come to appreciate her handling of some big situations - the Mother Emanuel shooting and the thousand year flood to name two.This book gives you the background on Nikki Haley, and how she was shaped to be the person she's become. How many twelve year olds have a knowledge of state tax codes? How many politicians have run for office - successfully - on a shoestring budget because they listened and followed through in their actions? Her upbringing was remarkable in many respects.This was a very interesting and eye-opening book. After I read it I immediately wanted to support her for a higher office - like the Presidency.I highly recommend this book. We need more common sense people like Haley in our government.

I teach at a women's liberal arts university, and I think that if Nikki Haley were a liberal, my colleagues would be building a statue to her on Front Quad! Her is a woman who overcame prejudice and obscurity, who took on the male-dominated political machines in her town and her state, who held her family together while her husband was deployed, and who imprinted her state government with her view of what's right.Haley tells her life story with the proper mix of humility and pride, and provides more detail on her policies and political work that I find in most political autobiographies. She treats her enemies with respect (more than they showed her, certainly), and permits the researcher to easily verify the truth of what she writes. This book would make an excellent supplemental text for my college course on State and Local Politics.

Nikki Haley's memoir let's one really get to know how principled and fearless she is. She believes in small, fiscally responsible government and is not willing to comprise her values. She fights for what she believes in and doesn't back down just to do the easy thing.I don't agree with all her politics, but I really appreciate how she fought as the U.N. Ambassador and stopped supporting morally suspect committees and resolutions to assuage or gain some advantage or more likely to continue status quo. Ruffling feathers is something Nikki is clearly accustomed to and is willing to battle heroically for her principles.I found some of the book a bit repetitive at times but overall a refreshing breathe of air in a habitually dirty political ground hog day environment.

I've been a fan of Nikki Haley for quite some time and feel like SC is my second home so I was excited to read this book. I loved getting to know her story better and see just how hard work really does pay off. Her writing style was easy to read. Everything was so interesting which made for a fast read.

Nikki Haley governor of s Carolina, having never heard of the author before, the first 1/2 of the book was really interesting. Struggles and victories experienced by her parents coming from India and settling in small town in the south US. 2nd 1/2 of book was a little repetitive and self-serving. Very interesting and am sure can see a future president.

Now I know why the people of SC elected Nicky Haley to theposition of Governor ! She’s smart , hardworking and visionary.In my opinionHer political and economic values align with most Americans,So,I wonder what is her next role in public service ?
